Cookoffs, duels & wagers

Two animated examples, clear steps and help when you get stuck.

01 / Try it yourself

Choose the player. Review the cookoff.

A cookoff reduces the opponent’s exposed Coins; it does not transfer those Coins to the competitor. Both players need an established pizzeria with a cashier.

The player card opens, the entry fee is reviewed and confirmed, then a successful example reduces the opponent’s exposed Coins and starts recovery protection.

Choose a card with the dots or arrows. Play advances every three seconds and stops at the last card.

Illustrated example. Names, balances and outcomes are examples, not live player records.

Try it yourself

  1. Select a registered player’s name to open their card. Check their XP and crew, then choose Compete.
  2. Read the entry-fee explanation. Confirm cookoff spends 2 Coins; opening the review alone does not charge you.
  3. A successful cookoff reduces the opponent’s exposed till Coins. A failed cookoff still spends the entry fee. The result tells you what happened.
  4. Review Recent cookoffs for the actual fee and Coin loss. Losing Coins gives your opponent a recovery window.

02 / Try it yourself

Agree both stakes before opening the duel.

Crust Wars and Topping Tumble support equal Coin stakes between two pizzeria owners. There is no fixed betting cap: All in uses your available till balance.

02Explore the example
Each player agrees to 20 Coins. The host locks 20, the guest accepts and locks another 20, and the final winner receives the 40-Coin pot. A separate cookoff can also affect the loser’s remaining exposed Coins.

Try it yourself

  1. From a player card, choose Challenge for Coins. Select the game and a whole Coin stake. Offer wager locks your stake.
  2. Your opponent opens Pizzeria Campaign, checks the exact amount and chooses Accept stake. Their equal stake is then locked too.
  3. After acceptance, the host chooses Open funded duel. Both players use Enter funded duel from their pizzeria to join the agreed game.
  4. The final winner receives both stakes. A forfeit loses the wager. You cannot change the amount after acceptance.

Know what you are looking at

Exposed Coins
The part of the till that a successful cookoff may reduce, subject to a reserve and recent-loss protections.
Bank and crew
Ordinary cookoffs leave banked Coins, kitchen staff and lifetime XP untouched.
Wager pot
Both voluntarily locked stakes. Ordinary cookoff protections do not protect a stake you agreed to risk.

A pizzeria can be unavailable for a reason.

New-pizzeria preparation, strength matching, recovery protection, recent cookoffs and recent losses can prevent a cookoff. Your rider shares the manual cookoff allowance. Blocking a player prevents pizzeria cookoffs between you. Keep Coins in the bank if you want them protected from ordinary cookoffs.

A final duel win also triggers a cookoff.

When two pizzeria owners finish a Crust Wars or Topping Tumble series, the final winner also triggers a successful cookoff effect against the loser with no entry fee. Normal cookoff protections still apply, so Coin loss may be prevented. This happens once for the final series, including forfeits, not for every round. Solo games, bots, guests and self-play do not trigger it.

If something does not work

I won a duel but no Coins were lost to competition.

The cookoff effect respects ordinary pizzeria protections and requires two pizzeria owners with cashiers. A wager payout is separate from cookoff losses.

How do I cancel or recover an unfinished wager?

Use Decline / cancel before the funded duel opens to return locked stakes. Expired or abandoned unfinished wagers refund after their expiry window. Once play starts, a forfeit is a loss.

Can I lose all the Coins I wager?

Yes. Only accept an amount you are willing to lose. The bank and cookoff-loss protections do not cover voluntary wagers. XP and kitchen staff remain permanent.
